Preserving Our Small-Town Churches

Catholic parishes exist to gather the faithful for Mass.

When Mass is removed, the life of the parish community is taken away.

Current proposals would reduce weekend Masses by 37%, consolidating 160 Catholic parishes into 27–29 new ones across 30 counties.

This would eliminate Mass at 83 churches—mostly in rural communities—

and leave several counties without a Catholic church at all.

Financial data shows most parishes are stable and have long provided community support to the Archdiocese during times of need.

There are reasonable alternatives that address resource concerns without dissolving parish communities or eliminating Mass.

161 parishes are asking for a weekend Mass.

161 parishes are asking for their right to life.
